Central producer still maintained high degree of control over all of the film production at a given studio, but it was difficult to keep tabs on the growing number of films. It is also difficult for central producer to be an “expert” in every genre.
Various studios’ central producers began assigning assistants to take over a degree of control over smaller groups of film.
Specialisation increased, different directors under central producer specialised in various genres of films.
The Impact This Had On Old Hollywood (Audience).
- They are only able to make one genre not giving them a lot of choice to choose from thus making the films were very predictable. (You knew what you were going to get when you went to watch them), It was easy to decide on a film as there was not a lot of films to choose from (range).
There was possible shortcuts in the making of films which therefore meant many films could be made, however this did not mean that the films were made to a good standard as they were specialist in doing what they did making them able to make a film quicker.
(Industry)
- There was a higher work load and this meant for longer contracts as many films were made throughout the year, this meant that the cast and crew of the film became specialist at what they were doing as they did the same type of film over and over again.

- The Departed is promoted through both stars and genre.
- The Genre of the film is a Thriller and Crime, we get a sense that the film is a thriller through the colours that have been used and also through the emotions in which are be portrayed on the characters faces.
- The Actors in which are present in the film play are major part in promoting it as they are very well known actors 'Leonardo Dicaprio', 'Matt Damon', 'Jack Nicholson' and 'Mark Wahlberg'. This is the reason for putting these actors on the cover because when people see that these people are present in the film then they will want to go and watch it.
